Registering a new Harvest step
In the platform, you can register new harvest steps to document grape parcels harvested in your winery.
You can access this function in two ways:
- Go to the Winery Activities menu and select Harvest
- Click the + Register new activity button and choose Harvest step

Getting Started
- Select one or more vineyards where the harvest took place.
- Choose the grape parcels from those vineyards that were harvested. Multiple parcels can be selected if needed.
⚠️ Important: If you select multiple grape parcels in a single harvest step, they will be recorded together as one Harvest Batch. This means the batch will be a mix of grapes from the selected parcels, without distinction between parcel A or B. To keep parcels separate, register them individually. Each entry will generate its own Harvest Batch Number (HBN).
When ready, click the blue Register harvest button. A form will appear with fields to complete. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). Only a few are mandatory for the platform to function correctly.
Section 1: General Information
- Start Date – Automatically filled with the current date and time, editable if needed.
- End Date – Automatically set to one hour later, editable if needed.
- HBN (Harvest Batch Name) – The unique identifier of a harvest batch. It represents grapes entering the winery for processing, whether harvested manually or mechanically (± must).
- An HBN consists of two parts:
- Number – A unique reference number for the harvest step (e.g., 1 for the first harvest, 2 for the second, etc.).
- Name – A descriptive label for easy identification.
- Example: HBN-11-Chardonnay 15/09
- An HBN consists of two parts:
- Method – Select the harvest method (e.g., manual or mechanical).
- Triage – Indicate the type of grape sorting: Triage table, Mechanical harvester, None, or Other.
- Description of Harvest – Free text to add any relevant notes.
- Weather Conditions – Description of weather at harvest, if relevant.

Section 2: Harvested Grape Information
- Estimated Weight – Total harvested quantity. Optional, as weight is not always measured, but useful for traceability.
- Estimated Weight Unit – Required if a weight is entered (e.g., kg, tons).
- Harvest Parameters – Optional fields that allow you to record key analytical values:
- Sugar Content (+ unit, e.g., g/L)
- Density (+ unit, e.g., Degree Oechsle, Brix)
- Total Acid Content (+ unit, e.g., g/L tartaric acid, sulfuric acid)
- Acidity (pH)
- Potential Alcohol Content – Estimate based on sugar concentration
- Quality Description – Qualitative assessment of the grapes (taste, phenolic ripeness, presence of botrytis, etc.)
Section 3: Grape Parcels Extra Information
Percentage of Parcel Harvested – For each selected parcel, indicate the harvested proportion (in %). Optional but useful for vineyard records.
Section 4: Extra Information
- Machine Used – Equipment used during harvest.
- Total Working Hours Spent – Number of labor hours spent on this step.
- Rows – Specific rows harvested (if relevant).
- Comment – Additional notes.
Saving the Harvest
When all fields are completed, click Save.
The harvest will appear in your list and can be managed from there.
